Pastor’s Perch
Luke 6:46, (KJV), Jesus speaking, “And why call Me lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?”
Have you ever noticed people that say,”I know the Lord?” Possibly people who claim that they are saved? People go to church, bible study group, participate in all church related activities and they know all the “churchy” jargon, lingo? These people are everywhere, perhaps you have been one of them or as difficult as it might seem, possibly you are still one of them!
Wait a minute here! Am I judging people? Am I bringing attention to people who are not perfect? Yes!, I suppose I am in a way, sorry, not! The people that I am really talking about are the people who do all these things, claim to be Christian, attend all the functions and yes even talk as Christians do, yet claiming all these good things, they cannot be told apart from the rest of the world. They continue to carry on just as they always did before “salvation came to them” where they supposedly got saved! They don’t actually love their neighbor, (Mark 12:30-31), they continue backbiting, gossip and slander, (Matthew 5:9), 1 Peter 4:8). They look the other way when someone is in need yet claim that they are truly generous and that they love the Lord.
Then there are the people who after their profession of faith, ( remember we are all not perfect in and of ourselves, NONE of us! (Romans 3:10). But there is some of this type of people who even after some time, continue to talk as if they might be a drunken pirate! The words that continually come out of their mouth’s with seemingly no remorse is horrendous, to say the least! Even to the point of using the name of the Lord in vain repetition! This ought NOT to be so! Jesus says in Matthew 7:16, speaking about false prophets and such, that, “Ye shall know them by their fruits.” A person who does not conform to and live out with honest sincerity and truth that which Jesus commands us to do, and if a person willfully goes against what Jesus, The Word teaches, then that person should be considered a false prophet. They are to be known by their fruit. Is the fruit they produce division, strife, lies, turmoil etc. or is it truth, love, compassion, obedience to and devotion of scripture, etc.? Remember 1 John 2:4, “He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.”
Then there is the offense of blasphemy. Do you know others that blaspheme? What is blasphemy? Blasphemy means: The act of insulting or showing irreverence toward God that goes against God’s nature in any way, shape or form.
Jesus was considered a blasphemer when He linked Himself.to God as God’s Son.(Matthew 26:65). Jesus also said in Matthew 12:30-31 that “blaspheming the Holy Spirit shall not be forgiven unto men.” What say you of people who use the name of the Lord in vain, cursing, swearing against God? Remember the Holy Spirit is the third member of the triune God, He, The Holy Spirit, IS god. So to use any form of the name of the Lord in vain with vulgarity, you are actually blaspheming God in whole or in total!
The Word teaches that we are not to allow any filthy communication to proceed forth from our mouths!.
I have raised some issues here, I realize. Let me state outright that, By being good, or that of trying to earn your way into heaven, no matter just how good you are, no matter how much cash you might donate or by how many people you feed or clothe, I am NOT saying in any way, shape or form that you can get to heaven by any of those means or ANY other way. NO! Jesus is THE ONLY WAY in which one can get to heaven. (John 14:6).
What I am trying to say is that if one is TRULY and Sincerely saved, then that lifestyle WILL change. Remember the fruit! It will change, maybe not over night or even instantly, although many people do change immediately. I, for one, did not. It did take some time for me. However, you do change on the inside, (2Cor. 5:17) and the process for some is slower but it is happening especially if your action of receiving that free gift of salvation that you received is growing and maturing, then you will see the difference and you will experience this magnificient changing process and people will see the difference within you as well. You will not talk as you once did, you will not do some of the things that you once did, why? Because the Holy Spirit comes to dwell within you as with ALL believers once they get saved. This is actually what changes you from the inside out!
If you are a person as we described from the onset then please reconsider your life, your actions and if you are truly saved, then the Holy Spirit within you will lead and guide you, you simply have to allow Him to do so. Allow the Spirit within you to affect these changes and trust me they all will be good and for the Lord. It might not be easy but I assure you, you are not alone as other Christians are going through much the same things as you are but they persevere because of the indwelt Holy Spirit. If your life needs to change then allow it. If you are a Christian then surrender to the Holy Spirit, He will not leave you nor forsake you and He’ll be along your side every step of the way. Get together with other Christians, read and study The Word, attend a bible believing, preaching and Christ centered church.
If you are NOT a Christian and the Lord is tugging at your heart strings, then answer Him, accept His free gift of salvation,, no strings attached offer of this salvation that He, Jesus has provided for ALL who will believe and receive it.Jesus, The Son of God, God in the flesh came to earth in human form, died on the cross, shed His precious blood to cover and atone for all of our sins, He died, was buried and He rose again on the third day. He is now ascended to heaven at the right hand of the Father. One day He will bodily come back to earth to receive us unto Himself and we will be with Him for all eternity.
Simply believe to the point where you receive him as your personal Lord and Savior, invite Him in with all truth and sincerity from the heart. He will save you! Romans 10:13 tells us,, “Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, SHALL be saved.”
Call upon His name today, receive the free gift of salvation, read Ephesians 2:8-10. Do it, do it now! If you do and I pray you do please let me know so I can pray for you and if you desire I can show you from scripture more of the “Good News”, that is what the Gospel is, Good News.
